Be Awesome
Remember, the point is to have fun. No one particularly cares if you have a level 20 anything here. However, if you have fun in a particularly amazing way and manage to impress everyone, you will likely be rewarded.
Being awesome can range from having an remarkably interesting character, to supplying ingenious battle tactics beyond, "Hit it. Hit it again." or by making a gutsy political move.
Being awesome can also include strong role playing: actually giving your character a personality, a past, an opinion, a bias, etc. Referring to aspects of the site without asking the DM for specifics first, such as using gods in a conversation, replacing modern language (to an extent, I don't want to have to look up what you're saying), and the like can also add on a couple of awesome points every so often..
However, if it is more fun for you to throw enemies down in the most straight forward manner possible, and have the most typical character imaginable, and ignore the political aspects of most races, then go crazy, but don't start whining if someone accumulates awesome points while you don't.

Awesome Points
Being awesome results in more than having everyone love you for a second, you are also awarded Awesome Points, but values are determined by the DM. Low amounts of awesome points won't really help you to win anything. They can occasionally bridge a wealth gap or help keep you alive for another round, but they are completely optional, and not incredibly easy to obtain. But, you can have an infinite number of them, that I intend on keeping careful track of.
